What are the advantages and disadvantages of the two positioning switches during use?

Limit switches and proximity switches are two types of positioning switches commonly used in the equipment industry, and there are different choices according to different site conditions. Let's compare their pros and cons:

Proximity switch: without touching the detection target, the object is detected by the method of eddy current generated in the metal body of the detection target caused by electromagnetic induction. For example, HWL's HTL-Q05N1E uses this principle to detect ferromagnetic objects and the detection distance 5MM, 10-30vdc power supply, the advantages are 1, non-touch, so it will not wear and damage the detection target. 2. The non-contact output method is used, so the service life is prolonged. The use of NPN/PNP output has no effect on the service life of the contacts. 3. It is not affected by the stains, oil, water, etc. of the detection target, and only senses ferromagnetism. 4. High-speed response up to 3KHZ

Defects: 1. Depending on the data of the detected object, the detection distance has obvious differences. Generally, the detection object is a non-magnetic metal (such as aluminum, etc.), so the detection distance will become smaller

2. Mutual interference means that the output is in an unstable state due to the influence of the magnetic (or electrostatic capacity) of adjacent sensors

3. When the proximity sensor is OFF, there will be a small amount of current leakage due to the operation of the circuit, so a small amount of current will remain in the load (load residual voltage), and the load will not reset properly.

The limit switch is a touch switch, which uses the mechanical opening and closing of the contacts to complete the function of the switch. For example SL1-A, single contact limit switch, LDVS-5204 is 2 contact limit switch, LDVS-5414 is 4 contact limit switch

Strengths:

1 Regardless of the material, as long as the operating force of the touch reaches a certain value, the switch will start.

2. The contact output method is selected, and the output can be different with the external voltage, and there is no leakage phenomenon.

3. Not affected by adjacent sensors, the output is stable.

defect:

1 Touch type, so it will wear and damage the detection target, and it is not recommended to use this method for fine objects

2. Touch type, mechanical life is limited.
