1. What is a limit switch

The limit switch is a device that transmits relevant information in a switch mode while restricting the moving range of an object in a mechanical device. It is mainly composed of contact, drive mechanism, housing and connector.


2. Working principle of limit switch

The working principle of the limit switch is based on the theory of mechanical kinematics. When the measured object moves to a specific position, the mechanical part will trigger the relevant structure inside the switch to make it close or separate, resulting in the closure or disconnection of the contact, so as to detect the position and control the circuit.


3. Limit switch application

Limit switch is widely used in a variety of mechanical equipment, such as CNC cutting machine, coiler, handling robot, intelligent logistics system, automatic packaging machine and so on. It can detect the position of the workpiece, motor, hydraulic cylinder and other actuator when the machine is running, and can provide timely and accurate information for the control system, so as to realize automatic operation and protection. In addition, limit switches are also commonly used in security fields, such as touch safety switches on lighting equipment, and closed limit switches on doors and Windows.


Limit switch is an electrical component, usually used in the field of mechanical automation position perception, safety protection and control signals. It can detect the state of the switch when the object reaches a specific location and feed this information back to the control system.
